The Best Free Lifestyle Apps

Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram are obviously my favourite apps (what kind of blogger would I be?), but over the last few months, I have come across these awesome lifestyle apps, some of which I’ve shared on my Facebook page previously. The best part is that they are all free so I wanted to share them with you all!

BEEN

I’ve always wanted a map on my wall to mark off the places that I’ve travelled. This version is just as good and doesn’t ruin the paint work. I thought I had seen a lot of the world, how wrong I was! I’ve only seen 6% of it!

This app has definitely motivated me to be more adventurous with my travels. I love nothing more than ticking new places off the map, it’s addictive!

As well as giving you a global view of your footprint, it also breaks it down my Europe and the US.

Visit-a-city

Before I went to Iceland (you can read about my trip here), I was researching things to do there,  looking up tickets for the sights and attractions, when I stumbled across this app (there’s also a website here). I honestly don’t know how I haven’t come across it before.

You enter the city to which you’re travelling (there are over 2,000 in the database) and then how many days you’ll be there. The app will generate a full itinerary for you! You can also buy all of your tickets through the app which is so handy. There’s the option just to browse things to see and do if you don’t want an itinerary.

I don’t know about you, but I Google “Things to do in…”, whenever I’m travelling, so this app’s going to be my new best friend! I’m very impressed with this concept and raging I didn’t think of it first!

Sleep Cycle

I don’t think a day goes by where I’m not tired. Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever woke up in the morning feeling refreshed and energised. I make sure that I get at least 8 hours sleep every night so there is absolutely no reason I should be tired. Darren had been using this app to track his sleep and I thought I’d give it a go to see what I’m at during the night (besides talking in my sleep!).

The app records how many hours of deep sleep you got, how many times you woke etc. and it turns out I do not sleep well at all!

From the graph, it looks like I get about 1 hour of deep sleep every night and for the other 7 hours I’m tossing and turning. So now I need to figure out how to stay in a deep sleep (I’ll let you know if I crack the secret).

Besides the sleep tracker, the app offers an alarm and would you believe the tones don’t make you want to cry when they go off? They’re so soothing and the app will decide when it is best to wake you up around the time you set the alarm for (could be earlier, but not later, see below).

Happiness Planner

I buy a new agenda at the start of every year and this year I had all intentions of purchasing “The Happiness Planner“. When I Googled to buy it, this app popped up! It turns out it’s made by the same company and gives you everything that the journal does. Also, unlike the journal, you’ll be sure to have it on you at all times.

It’s a calendar and a to-do list that provides you with the tools to help you embrace positive thinking and mindfulness and to ultimately make you more self-aware. For example, it asks you to reflect on your day and record what made you happy and unhappy. That way you can do more of the former and less of the latter the next day. My favourite feature is the daily quotes, like the one below, I read them every morning and use them as a mantra throughout the day.

You can also use it as an exercise tracker and a meal planner but I don’t use it for either of those things.

Considering the journals are €49, it’s worth a giving the app a go first!

Breast Check Now

Considering the vast majority of my followers are female, I thought it was worth including this app. Essentially it advises you how to check your breasts, reminds you to do so, allows you to record checks and also has a support service should you need further advice.

I love all of these apps and I can’t believe that they’re all free!
