I have been obsessed with teeth for as long as I can remember. Honestly, I have teeth OCD if that’s a real thing. I had braces twice and I’d get them again if I needed to. It’s really important to me that my teeth are kept clean and white as well as straight! There are things I do daily to keep them healthy. Obviously I brush them 2 to 3 times, I don’t drink fizzy drinks and I rarely eat sweets. I also get them cleaned regularly and whitened occasionally. Recently, I got invited to have them whitened at The White House and I’ve detailed the process in this post.
Teeth Cleaning
I’m not going to tell you how you should brush your teeth, I think we’ve all mastered that by this stage (just don’t forget to brush your gums, tongue and backs of your teeth!). However, I will tell you that my favourite toothpaste is Beverly Hills Formula Activated Charcoal Toothpaste. I definitely notice a difference with my teeth when I don’t use it.
Also, I get my teeth scrapped and polished in the dentist every 6 months. It’s not my favourite thing to get done, I don’t enjoy it, but it is essential for healthy teeth and gums. It ’s not painful, it’s uncomfortable, but it doesn’t last long so you shouldn’t be turned off if you’ve never been. Before our wedding, I got my teeth cleaned in 3Dental at the Red Cow and it was hands down, the best cleaning I ever had and it was the cheapest too! They also open late nights which is so helpful. You can read more about that and see their prices here.
The White House Teeth Whitening
I get my teeth whitened once a year, and if there is a special occasion (like my wedding!), I get a top up after 6 months. I was just thinking, if I didn’t love coffee as much as I do, I probably wouldn’t need them whitened at all but that’s going nowhere!
When I got invited to have my teeth whitened at The White House, I was of course more than happy to go along! It was an hour session too so I was delighted! I went to Dundrum (such a cute premises) but they also have clinics in Galway, Belfast and Swords.
Booking
I booked through their online booking system which was very handy because you can browse dates and times yourself and choose one that suits. They open of a Saturday too which is ideal for me since I work Monday to Friday.
Consultation
When I arrived, Roz was so warm and welcoming. I was given a copy of the Ts&Cs to read as well as a list of questions to answer. I can’t remember what the questions were but I remember thinking it was already more professional than previous places I had been.
The visit lasts one hour in total but 15 minutes of that was for a consultation. I asked a lot of questions (I always do!). Stuff like whether or not the treatment would damage my teeth (the answer to that was no!). Then Roz looked at my teeth, measured them against the shade chart and then we discussed where I wanted them to be (the whitest shade obviously!).
Treatment
Once agreed, my teeth were prepped and then the gel was applied. The 45 minutes session is broken down into 3 separate 15 minute sessions and the gel is reapplied after each. It’s a bit uncomfortable sitting there with the contraption in your mouth for an hour but that’s it.
There was no pain and no sensitivity before or after the treatment. This is extremely important to me. Myself and Darren got our teeth whitened a few years ago and the sensitivity afterwards was unbearable. We couldn’t open our mouths to talk that’s how bad it was and they weren’t even that white!
After Care
Since the pores on your teeth are open after the treatment, you are advised to avoid dark coloured food, drink and lipstick for at least 24 hours. Otherwise, you risk reversing the whitening process.
That is it! That’s literally how straight forward the whitening process is. I am thrilled with my results. You can see a before and after below. There is no filter or flash in either photo but they are taken at different times of the day (the after photo was taken the next day).
You can read more about The White House‘s money back guarantee, the treatment and prices here. They are doing an offer of €99, for a full one hour session during the month of May and if you book a top-up session on the day of your treatment you’ll get that for €30! You will never look back, honestly.
So there you have it, a good toothpaste, a professional clean every 6 months and a professional teeth whitening session. That’s how I keep my nashers clean and sparkly! If you have any queries at all, I would be happy to help as always.
