If you’re racking your brains trying to think of a Christmas gift for that special someone in your life, then I’m hoping the below will point you in the right direction.
GoPro Hero 4
GoPros are all the rage right now and I must say, having been given one as a wedding gift and bringing it with me on honeymoon, I can see what all the fuss is about. The fact that you can use it underwater just amazes me (I’ll be sharing some videos on my Instagram soon), but if I had to fault them at all it would be that GoPros don’t have a flash, although they do have “nightmode”.
Tip: Make sure you purchase an SD card because you can’t use it without one. Also ensure that the GoPro has Wi-Fi capability. This basically means that you can upload photos and videos to the GoPro App (iOS and Android) and share them directly online.
Coffee Machine
The perfect gift for coffee lovers. While there are plenty of makes and models to choose from, I’d recommend either a Nespresso Inissia or a Bosch Tassimo.
The slick design of the Nespresso machines look fantastic on any countertop and the coffee is delicious (Arpeggio is my favourite). You can also purchase deals that come with a milk frother which adds an element of luxury and a barista-esque look and taste to your homemade coffee. However, you should bear in mind that the capsules are only sold online at Nespresso.com, in Brown Thomas, Arnotts or the Nespresso store on Duke Street; which can be a bit of a pain.
Tip: Home and Cook in Kildare Village sell Nespresso machines and bundles at discounted prices.
The Bosch Tassimo machines are extremely popular and the fact that the coffee capsules can be bought in most supermarkets means it’s very convenient to keep stocked. COSTA, Oreo and Cadbury’s all offer capsules especially for this machine which makes it even better.
Tip: PowerCity is offering this machine for €49.99 at the minute (usually €99.99)! Get it here.
Gucci Scarf/Stole
Any scarf/stole, designer or not, would make a lovely Christmas pressie. The reason I’ve called out Gucci is because I have a tip I’d like to share with you all. I have two Gucci stoles; one, my husband bought me as a gift for €345 in Brown Thomas and the other (the exact same in grey), I bought in Gucci at Kildare Village for €140. That’s a massive difference! The scarves are 100% silk or wool depending on which you choose and they offer them for both men and women. The womens’ are stoles rather than scarves meaning they are really large and can be worn as a scarf, shawl, wrap and multiple other ways. The fact that these will never go out of fashion, are of extremely good quality, and are wrapped and packaged impeccably, make them stunning gifts.
Tip: Purchase in Kildare Village!
FitBit
There are a few different models of the Fitbit but my choice would be the Fitbit Flex 2 because it’s the slimmest, sleekest and it’s waterproof. It tracks your steps during the day, as well as the distance you’ve covered and the calories you’ve burned. At night, it tracks your sleep quality and pattern; highlighting how many times you woke and how many hours you’ve slept uninterrupted. Read more about its many properties here.
Tip: Download the app that’s available for iOS and Android so you can set goals, upload your food intake, compete with friends and track your activity easily.
A City Break
London, Edinburgh, Rome, Venice… a city break is always a good idea and it’s always nice to have something to look forward to once those post-Christmas blues set in. A weekend is enough time to spend in any of these cities and airlines are always offering reasonably priced flights. Also, figuring out how to present this gift to your special someone on Christmas morning is half the fun, so enjoy it and get as creative as you like.
Tip: Ryanair is currently offering flights from €9.99, act fast!
Hopefully I’ve given you some gift inspiration. More Christmas gift guides to come!
Lovely Ideas, I’m thinking of getting a go-pro too. And love the idea of a city break xx
Thank you!
Ah love theses and I’d love a fit bit! Another few nights in Rome would always be a good idea xx Siobhan
Thank you! I agree… my mother in law surprise me with a trip to atone for my 21st, I loved it but I’d love to go back better prepared!
